A source from the Raees unit told SpotboyE that the film directed by Rahul Dholakia has turned out to be kickass with spectacular performances by SRK, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub. Two romantic song sequences have been picturised on SRK and Pakistani actress Mahira Khan, which propel the plot further.

A three-and-a-half-hour first edit is not unusual, the source added, but the film is more than likely to be trimmed down to two-and-a-half hours. Chances are that there will be Shah Rukh’s creative involvement in the final product alongside Dholakia and co-producers Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani.

“Perhaps the songs will be tightened since every moment in the film is riveting and the tempo is fast,” the source added.

Raees is scheduled for release on July 3. Close on its heels, on July 8, Yash Raj Films will release the Salman Khan bonanza Sultan. It goes without saying that the comparative box-office collections of Raees and Sultan will spark a frenzied interest among Bollywood’s trade vigilantes.
